Annie’s Adventures Local for a Weekend

My Stay at Spring Creek Vacations

Beyond the jaw-dropping landscape in Canmore, there’s something about the little mountain town that keeps me coming back. The Bow Valley is overflowing with inspiring and talented artists, athletes and entrepreneurs.

Whenever I visit Canmore, I don’t want to play the role of a tourist in the Rockies, I want to walk in the shoes of a local. The thing is it can be almost impossible to determine where locals actually hang out, what they like to do, and what a day in their lives might be like. Between TripAdvisor and travel blogs, I could easily just end up following in the footsteps of other tourists.

Finally, I came across a place that allows people to travel among the locals in a way that feels authentic. I had the pleasure of booking a stay with Spring Creek Vacations and I haven’t been able to shut up about it since.

Spring Creek Vacations offers short-term rentals of beautiful condos in the Spring Creek neighbourhood downtown Canmore. When I booked my stay with Spring Creek Vacations, Canmore locals become my neighbours while I get cozy in my little home away from home. It’s basically Airbnb from before Airbnb was a thing with the added amenities of a resort hotel.

The adorable one-bedroom apartment had a gorgeous, rustic-chic decor, stunning mountain views, and a private balcony. Not to mention, there was also a glass fireplace, a giant soaker tub, tiletries from the Rocky Mountain Soap Company, a fully-stocked kitchen, and fluffy bathrobes for us to wear.

Though it gave us serious home envy, it also made us grateful for the opportunity to spend time in the rockies with all the perks of a hotel along with space to spread out and really live. We were able to put our food (and wine) in the fridge, put our bags in the closet, toss on our bathrobes, and live like it was our home for a few days.

We spent the evenings relaxing int the hot tub while gazing at the snow-topped mountains, spent our mornings in the gym, and spent the days experiencing the town. Right in the Spring Creek neighbourhood, there is a high-end wine store, a cafe, a lounge, and more. We were also told there are a ton of new local businesses opening up in the area soon.

Because we both work remotely, we were able to work on our laptops inside the condo during our downtime. The warm, comfortable vibe made for the perfect work-travel trip. Imagine sipping your morning coffee and working by the fireplace before a day of exploring the mountains. It doesn’t get much better.

The phrase “accessible luxury” is being thrown around like crazy lately, and up until now, it didn’t make much sense to me. Staying at Spring Creek Vacations is the definition of accessible luxury. Though many people have built a life in Canmore and Spring Creek specifically, it isn’t feasible for everyone. Staying in these high-end mountain homes gives us a chance to live that life without the commitment of, you know, buying one for ourselves. Why would we stay on the periphery of the lifestyle we admire when we can step inside and live it first-hand?

We felt immediately comfortable at Spring Creek Vacations and we’d go back in a heartbeat.
