Houseperson

Job Description

House persons are responsible for cleaning and maintaining the common areas of the hotel, including the hallways, common area furnishings, stairwells, landings, elevators, and the entrances, as well as cleaning guest rooms, when required. 

Previous hotel, commercial, or residential cleaning experience would be an asset, but it is not required. House persons must be able to work on their feet for most of their shift, and be able to bend, squat, twist, and work with their arms over their head. 

The duties of this position include, but are not limited to: 

  • Cleaning all common areas of the hotel, including dusting, vacuuming, and washing entrance ways, hallways, stairways, elevators, public washrooms, common area furniture, floors and windows. 
  • Emptying refuse containers and recycle containers in common areas of the hotel. 
  • Assisting with cleaning guest rooms, when required. 
  • Assisting Housekeepers by picking up soiled linen and delivering it to the laundry room.
  • Delivering supplies to the Housekeepers. 
  • Accepting and unpacking deliveries and stocking and sorting supplies. 
  • Assisting in clearing snow and maintaining walkways and paths surrounding the hotel in all types of weather. 
  • Moving furniture within the hotel, as needed.
Full-time employees qualify for group health benefits after 6 months of continuous employment.
