Soup for the Soul Returns April 5th

Soup for the Soul returns to Spring Creek on April 5th. The Malcolm’s Soup for the Soul initiative was started by Frank Kernick (Spring Creek Owner and Developer) and Andrew Shepard (General Manager of The Malcolm Hotel) in the early days of the pandemic when hotels were faced with closures. Instead of laying off staff and wasting food, the Malcolm team started making different flavours of soup and bread to serve for free to the community each day, with the option of providing a donation to the Bow Valley Food Bank. The intention was to bring the community together during a time when many in the community, especially the hospitality industry, were struggling with business restrictions and closures.

Soup for the Soul has now become an annual tradition and fundraising event at the Malcolm Hotel. The Stirling Grill and Lounge chef’s will be serving up delicious soups to the community on a first-come, first-serve basis. All proceeds from donations will be given to the Bow Valley Food Bank. In 2021, approximately $15,000 was raised for the food bank thanks to the generous donations from Canmore community members.

Starting at 10 a.m. on April 5th, Canmore community members can pick up their soup from the Malcolm Hotel. Donations are not required but are accepted and all proceeds will be given to the local food bank.

The soup flavour with the most amount of votes on our Instagram poll was potato bacon. To stay up to date with the upcoming event, please follow us on Instagram at @malcolmhotelcanmore.
